First described scientifically in 1934 by W.C. Cheng, this woody plant naturally establishes itself in the forested regions of the Zhejiang and Anhui provinces.
The plant's physiology exhibits formidable morphological adaptations that enable its robust growth directly within the crevices of mountain rocks. The foliar system resembles other trees in its taxonomic clade, boasting an alternate pattern with strong petioles and leaf blades that are considerably resistant to high-altitude winds.
Its stem development is characterized by the formation of stable trunks and a vigorous root apparatus perfectly capable of penetrating the primary stone substrate.
