Morphology

The climbing stems of this vine are thin and sparsely covered with fine hairs. The leaves are alternate, thin, and shaped like a heart with a pointed tip. The margins of the leaves are lined with tiny, sharp teeth.

As a dioecious climber, it has separate male and female plants. The flowers are typically pale yellow, and the mature fruit develops into a smooth, rounded pepo.
